This year at the Annual Curators Meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland, the Curators of the Colombo, DC, Harare, Uyo, Jordan and Bissau hubs of the Global Shapers Community (An initiative of the World Economic Forum) took a stand against climate change by pledging to plant 52 trees for 52 weeks of the year. It was decided that this could be an amazing inter hub project where "how" and "what" can the strength of 6,000 Global Shapers can do in the area of climate change.Several hubs took a pledge to plant 52 trees in 52 weeks, to take a stand against climate change and make this a Global Initiative.
To take this mission forward Global Shapers Bhopal joined hands with The Prathvi, Jagran Lakecity University and decided to take this global mission forward to save the environment. The Prathvi was generous to donate 100 saplings for the movement while Jagran Lakecity University offered land and water to plant the trees.This activity was energized by the gracious presence of IPS Officer Sushovan Banerjee, Additional Director General of Police, Mrs. Deepti Singh, Founder and Director of The Prathvi and Abhishek Mohan Gupta, CEO, Jagran Lakecity University.The Shapers from Bhopal hub, staff of Jagran Lakecity University and volunteers from The Prathvi actively took part in the drive and planted trees including Mango, Neem, Jamum, Gulmohar at Jagran Lakecity University, Mugaliyachap campus.Special thanks to Avani Singh from The Prathvi for coordinating the entire activity with our hub. Bhopal hub has done its bit and we now invite all other hubs to join us in this movement.
